Before the Thoroughbred Auction (hereafter referred to as Saraoku) was established, people known as "bakuro" would buy cancelled thoroughbreds for free or at low cost and resell them.

Horse dealers were said to be extremely shady.

Since the number of horses that horse dealers could handle was limited, there were many horses with unknown destinations at that time.

Thanks to Saraoku, horses are traded at fair prices and it has become easier to find new owners. In fact, Saraoku has saved many horses.

Horses that would have gone missing before are now entering local races through Saraoku, so local stables are steadily filling up. (At peak times, nearly 100 horses are traded on Saraoku in a single week.)

It is true that some unfortunate transactions do occur on Saraoku, but it is also a place that gives a last chance to horses that until now would have been taken directly to fattening facilities.

There was a horse named Shonan Baldy who was traded on Sala Auctions despite having tendonitis, and ran in a local race and suffered a crushing defeat. He was criticized for running the horse, and is now retired and spending his time somewhere.

Although there was criticism, without Saraoku, my life may not be here today.

There are horses that can win in local races even with tendonitis, so you can't really know until you see them race. As a fellow horse owner, I can't say anything bad about the owner of Shonan Baldy. If anything, I think it's better for the former owner to sell a horse that made over 100 million yen in such a condition...

However, it is also a place where they give one last chance, so that is a difficult point.
But I earn enough to buy a lot of expensive horses...
